“How would you describe the current state of music production software, given the rise of AI, and is it rapidly moving into the AI space?”

*”If you’d asked me this probably about six months ago, I would’ve said things are painfully not moving fast enough… The standard kind of bread and butter music software to create music is the DAW and the most famous ones are like Ableton Live, Apple Logic, GarageBand, and Fruity Loops. These software packages have all been around for like 20-plus years. They’re really good at what they do, but 6 months ago they had no AI features in them whatsoever. But the thing was, there was all this other stuff going on around them, like in the cloud. For example, there’s stuff like being able to change your voice into the voice of a famous artist. Another really good example is being able to take an existing stereo recording and split it into its individual components, so you can extract the drums, the vocals, or whatever. So I would say that only in the last couple of months, you’re starting to see the various DAWs kind of catch on.”
